The Start of Internet of Things

1966 – 1967 – ECHO IV: Computer to control kitchen and AC/Heat

1975 – X10 system: Used power lines to transmit data to control appliances and heating/lighting systems. Still in use.

1982 – Coke vending machine was first Internet-connected appliance: report inventory and temperature of liquids

1999 – Microsoft Smart Home: Full home automation (shopping list barcode scanner, smart lock & security cameras, smart lighting & heating)

1999 – Kevin Ashton (Procter & Gamble) created the term “Internet of Things”

Present Day- Internet of Things continues to expand and become a more popular industry each year
